Dancing Through Kiwanis Park | Josh & Rachel’s North Idaho Engagement Session

Some engagement sessions feel like a quiet walk in the woods. Others are filled with laughter, movement, and a kind of magic that’s impossible to pose. Josh and Rachel’s session at Kiwanis Park in Post Falls, Idaho? 100% the second kind. These two brought a joy and energy that was downright contagious — and it made for an evening that I’ll remember just as fondly as the photos themselves.

Why Kiwanis Park?

Nestled in Post Falls, Kiwanis Park is one of those hidden North Idaho gems that feels like it was made for engagement sessions. It offers the perfect blend of open fields, tree-lined paths, and riverfront views — and on a golden August morning, it practically glows.

If you’re looking for a North Idaho location that’s equal parts romantic and laid-back, Kiwanis Park is an easy favorite. With Josh spinning Rachel under the trees, let’s just say the park’s charm wasn’t doing all the heavy lifting.

Dancing Through the Session

One of my favorite things about couple sessions is inquiring what hobbies they enjoy. As soon as I met these two, I could instantly tell they must enjoy dancing. The way their faces lit up when I asked if they danced said it all. From spontaneous twirls to playful piggyback rides, they were both glowing with laughter each time. It didn’t feel like posing. It felt like them.

The Little Things

Beyond the obvious — like how photogenic they are or how easy they were to work with — it was the small moments that really stood out.

The way Rachel would smile at Josh when he wasn’t looking. The way Josh instinctively reached for her hand every time we walked to a new spot.

The laughter that came so easily between them, like an inside joke they didn’t even have to speak aloud. As a photographer, it’s these little things that make a session feel honest and intimate — like I’m not just capturing two people in love, but this couple in love.

What Made This Session Special

Every engagement session has its own rhythm. Some are slower-paced and quiet. Others (like this one) feel more like a celebration. Josh and Rachel brought so much of themselves to the shoot — not just in what they wore or how they posed, but in how they showed up: fully present, genuinely happy, and deeply connected.
